One of the Foundation’s major objectives for 2014-2015 is to increase awareness of Bruce Montgomery’s thrilling musical setting of “Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.” Commissioned by NBC in 1962, this work was first performed by the University of Pennsylvania Glee Club on the battlefield at Gettysburg and broadcast nationally to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Address in 1963. We believe every high school, college, community and military chorus should be singing this immortal work. Please listen to both versions (for male chorus and mixed chorus) and spread the word! Help us to ensure that this brilliant work becomes a staple in our nation’s repertoire of patriotic music. All royalties support the Foundation’s Fellowships & Grants program.
